THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR DOG SAFETY
What is the IADS?
The International Association for Dog Safety (IADS) is a global organisation with the safety of dogs and mankind in mind. Founded by Jay Lowe and Dale Allen as an extension of the Knights of Safety, the IADS is a community of like-minded individuals who work together to establish an effective training avenue through research and experience as well as promote and facilitate meaningful relationships between people and dogs.
As a recognised organisation in dog safety training and advocacy, The International Association for Dog Safety also coordinates with other organisations with the same mission to make our advocacy a reality. We create an open environment that solicits input from stakeholders by communicating effectively inside and outside the organisation to accomplish our goals in dog training.
Our belief is that safety can be achieved by being responsible dog owners and providing dogs with the good life and high-level care that all pets deserve. The IADS works to uphold the mission, vision, and ideals towards a world where no person or animal will ever be harmed from any dog-related incidents.
Vision:
The IADS aspire for a world that fosters a better understanding between dogs and humans to minimise dog-related incidents, train and discipline dogs in a correct manner, and ensure the safety of everyone.
Mission:
Our mission is to foster dog safety by equipping dog owners with all the necessary knowledge for a safe and peaceful life with their pets. Misinformation regarding dog safety has been a reason for too many near misses, actual bites, and preventable accidents within the dog world. People need to understand that there are different training methods and various ways to approach each breed.
As The Knight of Dog Safety, Jay aims to raise awareness of these misconceptions, show a dog’s capabilities with people who spend quality time with them, and the results of the lack of love, care, attention, and understanding.
Offered Services
The IADS offers one-on-one training with Jay, a professional dog trainer in the UK. If you’re in Lancashire, get in touch for home training services to help your dog achieve discipline and obedience, and make them a better companion for their human friends. Our training services also includes one-on-one or group classes where you can learn the basics of properly caring for your furry companion.

Aside from training, the International Association for Dog Safety also offers free academy courses, informative videos, blogs, and news articles on dog safety to help you learn more tip and tricks to lead you and your dog to a safer life together.
Whether you need help cultivating your dog’s simple behaviours like sit, stay, come, stop, and come, or understanding the essentials for dogs’ overall well-being to improve their quality of life, the IADS has a solution to help.
Who formed the IADS?
The International Association for Dog Safety was formed by Jay Lowe, the Knight of Dog Safety, and Dale Allen, The First Knight, as part of a series of safety associations under The Knights of Safety (TKOS). Together with TKOS, we aim to promote safety across various industries by providing significant and life-saving information. TKOS expands awareness to a range of health and safety solutions to empower people to make the world a safer place and improve the quality of lives of everyone.
The Knight of Dog Safety, Jay Lowe, is a professional dog trainer with nearly a decade of experience handling security dogs. He is accredited by the National Association of Security Dog Users (NASDU) as a Level 2 instructor. Over the years, he learned various dog training techniques and realised that there is no one way to train a dog. Besides knowing how to handle different dogs, he discovered how to understand their natural behaviours, personalities, and genetics during their training.
Jay believes that dog training and safety is not simply about training the dogs but also teaching people how to interact with them. He acknowledges the endless boundaries of misinformation and the direct impact of unsound dog training tips to dog lovers and owners. In line with the IADS mission, Jay aims to improve dog safety in all fields by educating people to prevent the increasing number of dog-related accidents in the UK and worldwide.
As a highly-skilled, full-time dog trainer, he also plans to raise awareness on the capabilities of dogs when provided with the necessary love, care, understanding and attention. This way, people will understand different training methods and approaches to dogs depending on their breeds.
As part of the TKOS mission for safety, IADS aspire for a world that fosters a better understanding between dogs and humans to minimise dog-related incidents. Their knowledge on dog safety aims to educate more people and provide the best and most comprehensive information they need to train dogs safer and smarter.
Importance of the IADS
Dogs possess many amazing qualities that are the reason why they are so adored. They are loyal and fun companions that will give their human friends unconditional love. However, they can also develop behaviour problems that can hurt people, other animals, or themselves. As their owners, it is our responsibility to prevent these incidents through training and socialisation. Proper training will help you shape your dog’s behaviour so that they would be more well-behaved and friendly.
The International Association for Dog Safety aims to bring out the best in your dog by giving you access to different training courses and other useful materials that will help you train your dogs better and in a more effective way. It will focus on different principles and methods that have been proven and adapted in a real-world environment.
Learning tips and tricks on dog training has become easier in the age of the internet. However, it also became easier to spread inaccurate information that can even cause dogs to suffer needlessly in some cases. IADS ensures that you are equipped with the right information to guide you in the right direction with your pet and protect the safety and well-being of your dog, your family, and others around them.
Moreover, IADS will create a healthy environment where you can enrich and strengthen your relationship and bond with your dog in connection with how you train and interact with them.
Dog Safety
In general, dog safety entails the safety of both dogs and the people that interact with them. First of all, as dog owners, it is our responsibility to provide our pets with a safe and comfortable environment. This means learning about the threats to your dog’s health and safety to avoid them in the first place.
However, dog safety is not just about protecting our four-legged companions from any dangers. It is also about training them, keeping them under control, and ensuring they’re well-socialised to keep them out of situations that might trigger their aggression or anxiety.
Dog safety also entails spreading awareness regarding proper behaviour around dogs and preventing dog-related incidents. With near misses, actual bites, and preventable accidents being common within the dog world, it is essential to learn how to be safe around dogs and the cues to keep an eye out.
Importance of Dog Safety
Learning different strategies to keep your dog safe, staying safe around dogs, and training and bonding with dogs are important for many reasons. Dogs have no concept of right or wrong. Most of their instilled behaviours stem from routine and training. Disregarding dog safety can result in behavioural problems that cause annoyance and frustration and lead to preventable accidents that can cause injury or worse.
As owners capable of rational thought, you play a critical role in your pet’s positive development. Most dogs are the happy and well-socialised family pets that we picture them to be as long as you provide them with the guidance they need to interact with their environment safely. Dog safety contributes to ensuring you have the proper knowledge to do just that.
Dog safety is a wide topic that covers various aspects. To start for a safer future for you, your dog, and those around you, find out everything you need in this Ultimate Guide to Dog Safety, where we’ve compiled everything there is to learn about Dog Safety.
